On Faith

I came to know of the tragic stories of the Tibhirine monks from reading the book "The Vertical Self" by Mark Sayers. This is one of those books that make you think about life, your values, and the Christian Faith. At the very end, he mentioned these monks. The story was in fact made into a film, and got the 2010 Grand Jury Prize at Cannes. I can't wait to watch it.

Make a formal complaint

Your tax money (yes, the 15% GST you're paying now instead of the 12.5%..) pays Paul Henry's $300,000+ salary, but it also pays the Broadcasting Standards Authority.

Take 5 mins (0.3% of 1440mins) of your time today and lodge a formal complaint on the BSA website against TVNZ within 20 days from this Monday. Don't just talk about it, do something about it. You don't need to write an essay, fill in the form online and you're one click away to make a stand on this issue.

TVNZ has to respond to ALL complaints. You have an opportunity to take their reply further with the BSA.

Go on, you live in a democracy, exercise your rights and responsibility.

How to be happy

There you go, the key to happiness. Go and find your Prince Charming or Princess. If you do find one, make them your priority. Easier said than done eh? It's not rocket science, one has to be clear on one's life goals, that's the important bit.

Paul Henry's "un-kiwi" comment

With freedom of speech comes the responsibility that goes with it. Of course everyone is free to express their view, but doing an interview on live TV is different from having a chat with a mate over a beer. Is Paul Henry a racist? In this midst of all this anit-Paul Henry sentiment, the question you have to ask yourself is: Do you agree with TVNZ's response or not?

Your genuine response to the above questions is the fact of the matter here.

Paul, by referring himself as a "Gypo television presenter", doesn't really help the situation either. Afterall, is there anything wrong or inferior just because you're a Gypsy? No.
